Pros: This product is great for 3a and 3b. It also is quite affordable to be so adamantly available. It is at all Targets across the United States and on Amazon if you are not in the US.
Cons: If you have 3c (and relatively long) hair, then go ahead a grab 2 because one bottle does not do the trick for me. I have tried in small amounts and smoothing methods, but I never get more than 2 days on a wash and go.
Heavy or Light: Very Very light. I would assume that the water content in a product like this is at least 45%. (That is a guess, I know not the recipe for this product)
Cocktailed with: You would be best making sure your hair is drenching wet and freshly washed. For some reason when you apply to dry hair it has a slight white residue. Although the residue is temporary, I put it on right before work and looked a mess.
Smell: Like all CURLS products this product has an incredible smell and its smell is passive so you don’t have to worry about your perfume colliding with your hair. This is a major plus because some products are overly floral or have crazy undertones.
Appearance: It is clear and really thin. It doesn’t have a jiggle like consistency I would compare it to the LALA flavored yogurt drink.
Sticky: Not sticky at all. It only has a residue if it is overworked or put on dry hair but the moment your hand touches your hair, the product slips right off.
Rating: 2.75 – I wish I could give it higher and I have purchased at least 4 of these with different styles and the results have all been the same. The weak for 3c-4c and inconsistent residue.
By now I know you have heard or seen the ridiculous ad SheaMoisture shared. And if you haven’t keep reading. The ad seems all good and dandy unless you truly are familiar with the natural hair community and what SheaMoisture was built on. SheaMoisture was the staple product for natural hair and I mean CURLY hair people. When you heard SheaMoisture you thought of the pioneering, off the ethnic section first product. But the ad discussed hair hate and how “EVERYBODY” needs to love their hair and not ONE black woman, ethnic woman, 3b 3c 4c hair was shown. So
5 Times SheaMoisture Got It Wrong
The commercial is stating “HAIR HATE” where and when do people discriminate on white people straight hair???????
The entire brand was built and designed by African descent and was supported by African Americans but not 1 African was shown in this new “direction”
“Everybody Gets Love” #BissshWhere they had 4 out of 5 people were Caucasian. So Where is everybody????
SheaMoisture Apology was as pathetic as the video.
They said they would take it down, and yet its still there.
It’s the million dollar natural question, how can you get the perfect puff.
Every natural at some point has come in crossroads with putting their hair in what is called the “Puff”. The puff is also known as the ponytail but with all natural hair. Trust me there is a big difference.
So what is a PuffCuff? A circular banana clip in the simplest of terms. However, it definitely solves the issue of the incredible puff. Since it’s circular you can simply gather your hair to the middle of your hair and hook the PuffCuff around it which is a ton easier than an elastic band.
This is the best moisturizer for natural hair by far. If you choose a natural hair vlogger or blogger I am sure all of them will at some point vouch for how magnificent this item really is.
I have faithfully used this item for every twist out I have ever had because the results can’t be matched with any other product.
It holds really well but doesn’t confine me to one style for a week. I love to switch my hair up on the day to day basis. I can have twist out but then want to have a cute twist out ponytail.
Pros: This product curl activating supplement in my experience. Since it is really thick it gives a great hold as well. But the best part is that you only need a very small amount so the price is fare.
Cons: The hold only last 8-12 hours so if you have a job and want to go out to dinner after you will need a refreshing.
Cocktail with: I wouldn’t use this with water. It somehow give a strange consistency. However I think this would go great with some Argan Oil.
Heavy or Light: Heavy
Smell: similar to cheesecake, I love the fragrance because it is really bold and takes place of needing an aggressive perfume. (I hate perfume anyway, I am a body spray type of girl)
I wasn’t about to write about this product because I think this item is a given. It is frequently talked about and just about every vlogger has this in at least one video. Continue reading “EcoStyler Gel Review”
emilyjanecurls: Currently in my hair! This is my first time using a deep conditioner from @sheamoisture4u, and I can tell I’m going to like it! It smells like Michael Kors perfume😍
Pros: It works! There is no doubt in my mind that a person with 2c-4a will certainly benefit from this product. It doesn’t burn nor have a irritating smell so it is pleasant to use as well.
Cons: It is pretty expensive to say the least. It cost about $12 and depending on the extent of your damage, this will last a thick hair person with high porosity and super dense (like myself) about 4 washes which is about 4x’s a month or 3 conservatively
I know that there is a prenotion that comes with using gel. We all expect flakes and a thick hair cast and crunchy hair. I know I do. This will not do that. This gel souffle is a great blend between gel and hair grease. It will allow you to have definition for a strategic style without the concern of frizz early on. It will also give you a ton of moisture for at least 2 days without serious need of additional product.
Pros: A very light product that provides definition and is great at sealing moisture
Cons: You can’t use this for laying down your edges if you have curly edges. This is specific to style use i.e. Twist Out, Bantu Knot, etc..
3c- 4c Girls beware! This is NOT for us. However I would certainly suggest keeping this item as a backup for those stubborn curls. I personally have multiple hair types and I actually use this as an additional product. The price gives away the fact that this item might need help to stay effective none the less it is still an alright buy. Continue reading “Herbal Essences Curl Scrunching Gel”
